Face and Back Massage for Autumn Stress

As the evenings get darker and the routine picks up again, many of us notice it in our faces first: a tight jaw, a furrowed forehead, tense shoulders and a tired look that a good night’s sleep doesn’t quite fix.

In my East Hunsbury studio, I see this every autumn. The good news is that a little regular care can make a real difference to how you feel.

Why the face and back hold so much tension

We clench our jaw, frown at screens and carry stress in the neck and shoulders without noticing. Hours at a desk or in the car add to it. Over time, this can leave the face feeling heavy, the shoulders tight and the skin looking dull.

How each treatment can help

Face massage. A slow, sculpting massage of the face, neck and décolleté. Many clients tell me it helps them let go of tension and leave feeling calm and refreshed, with skin that looks brighter afterwards.

Facial reflexology. Gentle pressure on specific areas of the face is designed to encourage relaxation. Clients often describe it as deeply soothing and a good way to switch off.

Buccal massage. This technique includes work inside and outside the mouth, allowing me to reach muscles that are difficult to access from the outside. It can be especially helpful if you hold tension in your jaw and cheeks.

Back massage (Back massage is included in the Maximum and Signature treatments).  The face and the upper back are closely connected: tight shoulders and a stiff neck often go hand in hand with a tense jaw and forehead. Working on the back and shoulders can help release that tension, and many clients say they feel lighter and more relaxed afterwards. It also makes the face massage that follows feel even more effective. What to expect

Every session starts with a short chat about how you feel and what you’d like to focus on. I then adapt the treatment to you. Many clients choose a course of sessions, followed by a monthly treatment to keep feeling their best through the colder months.

This is not a substitute for medical care, and I’ll always check that a treatment is suitable for you before we begin.
